LT Wright Handcrafted Knives Woodland Trail Desert IronwoodThe L. T. Wright Handcrafted Knives Woodland Trail knife is a premium knife designed for discriminating users who demand the finest.

The L. T. Wright Handcrafted Knives Woodland Trail is a collaboration effort between Dale (the designer) at theknifeconnection.net and L. T. Wright Handcrafted Knives. It is offered exclusively by theknifeconnection.net. Each knife and the accompanying sheath are hand made in the U. S. A. (the knife in Ohio) using the finest materials with careful attention given to each one during the building process.

The Woodland Trail is a descendant of the best-selling Forest Trail knife designed by Dale at theknifeconnection.net and shares some of the same features. It makes a great companion knife for the Forest Trail knife.

The handle shape and size have been specifically designed to provide the user with a firm, comfortable grip in a variety of holds and positions. The thumb/finger scallops provide the user with a better hold when using the “pinch finger” hold for side cuts and more delicate work. The knife can also be worked hard due to the handle shape and size allowing you to do cutting tasks that a knife of this size normally cannot do efficiently. The Woodland Trail is nimble in the hand with great control for tasks such as skinning but it also provides a solid grip for tasks such as batoning kindling wood. The drop point blade makes the knife a great general purpose outdoor knife. It's a perfect knife for field dressing medium to large-sized game and handling small to medium bushcraft tasks such as making fuzz sticks, trap parts and tent stakes.

This knife features A2 tool steel which is an excellent quality cutlery steel. A2 tool steel will take a very keen edge, is abrasive resistant and tough which makes this an excellent knife for aggressive users.

Whether you are field dressing a Whitetail deer in Ohio, making fuzz sticks at camp or cutting netting on a military mission, the dependable Woodland Trail knife will get the job done quickly and efficiently!

A heavy duty leather dangler sheath is included. The dangler can be removed so the knife can be carried in the "high ride" position if desired.

About A2 Carbon Steel

LT Wright Handcrafted Knives Woodland Trail at The Knife Connection

AISI A2 is a carbon steel with the addition of 5% chromium and 1.1% molybdenum, allowing it to quench in still air (A for Air.) While stainless amounts of chromium (12% or more) make tool steel gummy and hard to sharpen, the modest amount of chromium in A2 improves its toughness and abrasion resistance, but imparts only a slight measure of corrosion resistance (like high carbon steel, it will rust and appropriate preventative care must be taken.) During heat treatment the chromium addition combines with some of the carbon in the alloy to form chromium carbides: tough, hard particles dispersed through the steel. These carbides are the primary contributors to A2's celebrated edge retention. A2 is one of the steels that responds well to cryogenic treatment. This extreme cold treatment (-320 degrees F) essentially finishes the original quench, increasing the Steel's toughness without any decrease in hardness. You get increased wear resistance without any increase in brittleness so a cryogenically treated blade will hold its edge longer. You can keep working instead of sharpening. A2 is a great steel that offers a real improvement in edge retention over some of the simpler carbon steels.
