The LT Wright Bushbaby HC is the little brother of the popular LTW Bushcrafter HC. It is a compact knife that is quite capable of getting the job done. The Bushbaby HC is a convenient size and is designed to handle a variety of tasks. The smaller size makes it easy to carry or pack and it makes a nice daily carry knife. The Bushbaby HC is a great knife for all small to medium bushcraft tasks, hunting and many other cutting tasks.
When LT Wright Knives created this knife, they were thinking about performance, value, and field service. The blade is made of 3/32 inch high carbon 1075 steel and features a convex grind. 1075 steel is a steel you can easily sharpen in the field. You can strike it with a flint or use a ferro rod for starting a fire and it comes with LT Wright's own 2 step patina to reduce rusting issues and add aesthetic appeal.
The Bushbaby HC has an overall length of 6.75" and a cutting edge of 2.75".
Handle comfort is important so that's why the Bushbaby HC features a round handle and smooth finger groove. There is also a slight tapering of the scales toward the front to help in choking up a bit for fine work.
The scales are fastened with fisheye bolts and marine grade epoxy. The epoxy will also seal the scales to the steel eliminating a potential area for rust to form.
With a price point of less than $100 (with a sheath), the Bushbaby HC is a fantastic value! You are getting a hand made in the USA knife, exceptional heat treat by Peter's in Meadville, PA, a lifetime guarantee, and a proven design... all for under $100.
The included sheath is a hand made JRE leather sheath with a dangler set up and fire steel loop (the dangler is removable for "high ride carry"). The sheath is double sewn with eyelets for adding more attachments if needed.
