The Bark River Knives Snowy River was first produced about 2005 and was a favorite by those who got one of the first few. It is now being re-introduced with some changes that turns a great knife into a fantastic one. The handle is now more ergonomic making it more comfortable in the hand and easier to control. The handle construction is now a durable FULL hidden tang design meaning the tang FULLY extends past the lanyard tube adding more strength while at the same time maintaining the beauty of a hidden tang knife. The tang is also wider than the original version and there are now three pinned points in the handle as the lanyard tube also goes through the tang. The bolster is made out of T6061 aircraft grade aluminum and provides a nice accent. The change to Bohler ELMAX "super steel" means that you now have a knife with super edge retention AND in stainless steel making it rust and stain resistant.
The Snowy River is a great larger every day carry knife and is perfect as a general purpose field knife for hiking, hunting, camping or light bushcraft tasks. At just over 4 ounces, it is easy to carry on your belt or stow in your pack.
